Baseball Defeats Austin College, 20-3

TYLER -- The UT Tyler baseball team took a break from American Southwest Conference play on Thursday night at Irwin Field by defeating Austin College, 20-3. The Patriots slugged 23 hits and used 22 different players.

UT Tyler improves to 22-7 overall on the season, while Austin College drops to 5-22.

The Patriots scored a run in every single inning they batted, highlighted by two five run innings- the first and fifth innings.

Billy Lirely led the Patriots onslaught, as he went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and four RBI's. TJ Martin was not far behind, as he went 3-for-5 also, registering one RBI.

David Ring hit his second home run of the season, as he went 1-for-5 with three RBI's. Issac Tijerina also recorded 3 RBI's, as he went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Other contributors were Will Allen, who scored four runs and going 2-for-4, Hayden Chick who went 2-for-4 with three runs scored , and Aaron McCain, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Steven Paramore came in as a pinch hitter and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

The Patriots starter was Chase Willard, who threw seven dominant innings. Willard allowed no runs on four hits and striking out five Kangaroo batters.

Garrett Machacek came in in the eighth inning and allowed three runs off of four hits, while striking out one. E.H. Almand finished the game in the ninth allowing no runs off of two hits.

The Patriots will now head out on the road to Shreveport, La. as they will visit Centenary in a three game series set to begin on Friday night at 6 p.m.
