Box Score TYLER -- The UT Tyler baseball team dropped the rubber-match against Texas-Dallas on Saturday, falling 4-1 in American Southwest Conference action. In the loss, the Patriots totaled just five hits while committing three errors.
The Comets (12-7) got the scoring started in the third, as Brandon George singled-in Rick Marti to make it 1-0 Comets.
UTD would extend the lead to 2-0 in the fourth inning on an error by Dillon Berry, but the home team would answer in the same inning.
Ely Whitmire would pick up the Patriots (8-14) lone RBI of the day, a sacrifice-fly to center, making the score 2-1 Comets.
The Comets' Trevor Clifton would break the game open in the fifth, knocking a two-run single down the left-field line, making the score 4-1 UTD.
After Texas-Dallas added another run in the eighth, the Patriots threatened with a few baserunners, but could not get the home, eventually falling 5-1.
Five different Patriots finished with hits in the game, but none had a multiple-hit game.
Cason Adams was handed the loss, pitching 4.2 innings, giving up seven hits and two earned runs. Josh Holley worked two stellar innings in relief, giving up just one hit and no runs.
The Patriots will hit the road for a three-game series against Hardin-Simmons beginning on Friday, March 28 at 7 p.m. in Abilene.
