LONGVIEW, Texas - The #15 UT Tyler Men's Soccer team opened a weekend road trip against LeTourneau University on Thursday night. The Patriots defeated LETU 6-0, improving to 10-1-1 overall.
The Patriots opened the scoring early in Thursday's matchup, taking a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute of play.
Noah Kubala played a ball into the the box that
Jose Poo redirected into the back of the net. The goal was the first of three assists for Kubala and Poo's seventh goal of the season.
Just four minutes later
Walter Castro would net his second goal of the season off an assist from
Mark Guevara. Guevara's pass to the top of the box was played into the back of the net by Castro, putting the Patriots ahead 2-0 in the 16th minute.
Ramiro Alvarez sent the Patriots into the half on a high note after netting his first goal of the season in the 40th minute.
Steven Chavez redirected a corner kick that Alvarez delivered past the keeper. After 45 minutes of play, UT Tyler would lead 3-0.
Sam Huerta opened the second half scoring in the 57th minute, netting his first goal of the season.
Winner Assi would play a ball to Huerta who played the ball past the keeper, giving the Patriots a 4-0 lead in the game.
Kubala would add his second assist in the 86th minute, playing a ball to
Caio Godinho who pushed the ball past the keeper for his third goal of the season. The 86th minute goal gave the Patriots a five-goal cushion.
Erik Macias picked up his second goal of the season and the Patriots sixth on the night just 48 seconds after Godhino's 86th minute goal. Kubala picked up his third assist of the night on Macias' goal, giving the Patriots a 6-0 lead with three minutes remaining in regulation.
The win pushed UT Tyler's winning streak to four games. After the win, UT Tyler is now outscoring opponents 26-6 through 12 games this season.
UT Tyler returns to action on Saturday in Marshall, Texas. The Patriots head east on I-20 for a matchup against East Texas Baptist University. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 4:00 p.m.
