TYLER -- On her Senior Night, Reighanna Guzman reached history in her final home game for a historic team. UT Tyler took down East Texas Baptist in a 3-0 sweep for their fifteenth consecutive victory and Guzman crossed a historic milestone. She became just the third player in UT Tyler history to reach 2,000 assists. She had 43 on the night to bring her career total to 2,008.

Guzman is a setter from San Antonio and has been a four year player for the Patriots. She has won the American Southwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week three weeks in a row and has been one of the anchors of a high powered Patriot offense this season. The senior only had two errors on the night and also pulled out nine digs on the defensive side.

UT Tyler (15-1, 12-0, ASC) started out the match firing on all cylinders. In the first set, the Patriots took eight of the first ten points to force an early ETBU timeout. During the first frame, the Patriots only had two errors. ETBU (12-13, 6-8 ASC) were unable to get on a roll with UT Tyler forcing a sideout on eight of the Tigers nine serves. The set was never close and UT Tyler took it 25-9.

The second set saw the Tigers pull closer with a couple of rallies that kept the Patriots on their toes. Kayla McCoy and Samantha Lee were strong on the offensive side for UT Tyler with both of them having 11 kills in the match. Kaitlyn Budisalovich was right behind them with an even 10 kills on the night. The Patriots pulled away late in the set to win 25-19.

The wheels then appeared to fall off for UT Tyler as they entered the third set. ETBU won eight of the first eleven to force Coach Mashe to spend an early timeout. Both teams then traded rallies back and forth. The Patriots would pull to 10-12, but then the Tigers started to pull away to make the score 13-18. UT Tyler had five errors in the set, nearly triple from the first set. After burning their last timeout, the Patriots started a methodical comeback. They tied it at 23 and then took the last two points to secure the sweep. They will finish the season undefeated on their home court for the first time in school history.

UT Tyler will close out their season with three matches on the road against ASC opponents before a final tournament at Hendrix College.

Their next match is Friday, October 19 against Belhaven in Mississippi. It is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
