TYLER, Texas - The UT Tyler Women's Soccer team hosted the final game of the 2018 season on Saturday afternoon against Belhaven. The Patriots would claim a 4-0 victory, finishing the season 11-2-1.
Seniors
Kaelyn Steitz and
Kathleen Johnson were honored before the game in a special Senior Day Ceremony.
Korey Cyr put UT Tyler ahead in the 34th minute of play on Saturday. Cyr would work around defenders in the box, firing her shot into the back of the net. Cyr's goal put UT Tyler ahead 1-0.
Senior
Kaelyn Steitz would record a 48th minute goal off an assist from fellow senior
Kathleen Johnson. Johnson played a ball to Steitz who redirected the pass into the back of the net, putting UT Tyler ahead 2-0.
Ashton Peeks would score in 69th minute to give UT Tyler a 3-0 lead midway through the second half. Peeks would score the goal unassisted.
The Patriots sealed the deal with a 77th minute goal from
Lyndsey Rolen. Rolen would take her unassisted chance on goal, giving the Patriots a 4-0 lead with 12:15 left in regulation.
Maya Dossing recorded her fourth consecutive shutout of the season and second this week in goal.
UT Tyler would out-shoot Belhaven 35-2, putting nine shots on goal en-route to the 4-0 win.
