CONWAY, Arkansas - The UT Tyler Volleyball team closed out a historic 2018 season at Saturday at the Hendrix College tournament. UT Tyler improved to 24-2 after defeating Louisiana College 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-17) and Hendrix 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-23).
The Patriots cap off a historic season at 24-2, the best record in program history while setting an all-time wins record. The Patriots broke into the AVCA Coaches Poll for the first time in program history at No. 25 earlier this season, moving up to #16 as of Tuesday.
GAME 1: #16 UT Tyler 3 - Louisiana College 0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-17)
The Patriots were able to open the tournament with a three-set sweep of Louisiana College, their third win over the Wildcats this season.
The Patriots would open the match with a 25-14 win that saw the Patriots pull away with a five point run in the middle of the set.
A late eight-point run in the second set allowed UT Tyler to pull ahead 23-12 in the second set. UT Tyler would record a 25-15 win in the second set, pulling ahead 2-0 in the match.
The third set saw UT Tyler put together two separate runs of four-points or more, with the largest run at five points. The runs allowed the Patriots to claim a 25-15 win in the third set, taking the match 3-0.

GAME 2: #16 UT Tyler 3 - Hendrix 0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-23)
A back and forth first set saw UT Tyler pull ahead 15-10 after a five point run. The Patriots would never relinquish their lead, claiming the opening set 25-19.
The second set UT Tyler out together a trio of runs to open a late 21-15 lead over Hendrix. UT Tyler would claim a 2-0 lead in the match after taking the set 25-19.
The third set saw the closest set in the tournament for UT Tyler, coming from behind to claim their second sweep of the day. Down 15-18, UT Tyler would storm back to take 10 of the final 17 points en-route to a 25-23 win, taking the match 3-0.
