LONGVIEW, Texas - The #17 UT Tyler Volleyball team opened their week with a matchup against LeTourneau University on Tuesday night. UT Tyler defeated the Yellow Jackets in three sets, improving to 16-1 overall.
#17 UT Tyler moved up three spots in the AVCA Division III Poll today, just hours before playing the match in Longview. The win is the Patriots 11th in a row and 16th on the season.
SET 1: #17 UT TYLER 25 - LETOURNEAU 15
The Patriots only trailed through the first point of the first set, opening an early 7-1 lead. The Yellow Jackets brought the game within three before UT Tyler stretched the lead to ten, taking a 1-0 lead in the match.
SET 2: #17 UT TYLER 25 - LETOURNEAU 18
A back and forth second set saw the teams keep the set within three points through the middle of the set. UT Tyler would pull away in the late goings, opening a five point lead. The Patriots would preserve the lead before stretching it to seven as the set point was recorded.
SET 3: #17 UT TYLER 25 - LETOURNEAU 13
The Patriots scored the first three points of the third set before LeTourneau brought the set within a point. The Patriots would pull ahead 10-5 before opening a 19-8 lead. The Yellow Jackets would score five points in the final eleven points of the game before UT Tyler picked up the match point ahead 25-13.
