The No. 20 ranked UT Tyler volleyball team will make the short trip to Longview on Tuesday to take on the LeTourneau Yellowjackets. UT Tyler is coming off a week break and are currently riding a 10 game win streak that dates back just over a month. This will be the first American Southwest Conference game for the Patriots in ten days.
Â
The Patriots (15-1, 7-0 ASC) are still off to their best start in program history. They will come in with a lot of confidence with a 15 game win streak against the Yellowjackets that dates back eight years. The last loss to LeTourneau was back on September 24, 2010 when the Yellowjackets took a five set victory.
Â
Kaitlyn Budisalovich continues to have a great season for the Patriots with 215 kills, one of only two players in the ASC with over two hundred kills. She is set up very nicely with Reighanna Guzman, who has 636 assists on the year. Only two other players in the conference have more than five hundred. Makenna Bartlett has been an anchor for the defense with 240 digs, sixth in the ASC.
Â
The Patriots will have a tough assignment defensively as they take on the only player who has more kills in the ASC than Budisalovich: Kianna Crow. LeTourneau (7-13, 4-5) relies on her heavily to keep the Yellowjackets competitive. She has 265 kills on the year. The Yellowjackets hung tough with UT Tyler in their first match at the HPC, but in each set the Patriots went on a run that allowed them to pull away. In the third set, the score was tied at 10. UT Tyler then went on to win 11 of the next 14 points to cruise to a three set victory.
Â
The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
