ALPINE, Texas - The #23 UT Tyler Volleyball team improved to 11-1 overall after winning a pair of matches in American Southwest Conference Crossover play on Saturday. The Patriots defeated McMurry 3-2 and Hardin-Simmons 3-0.
#23 UT Tyler 3 - McMurry 2 (25-21, 20-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-9)
The nationally ranked Patriots took on previously undefeated McMurry at the ASC Crossover event in Alpine on Saturday. UT Tyler used five sets to deal the War Hawks their first loss on the season.
The Patriots rallied from a five-point deficit to take the first set 25-21, taking a 1-0 lead in the match.
McMurry would take sets two and three before UT Tyler rallied back to pick up their 10th win of the season.
A back and forth fourth set saw UT Tyler come out on top with a 25-22 win, forcing a fifth set.
McMurry would pull ahead 6-2 early in the fifth set before UT Tyler evened the set at eight. Six straight points put UT Tyler ahead 14-8 before the Patriots picked up the 15-9 fifth set win.

#23 UT Tyler 3 - Hardin-Simmons 0 (25-17, 25-17, 27-25)
The Patriots would sweep their final match of the weekend for the second time in as many days, downing Hardin-Simmons in three sets.
The Patriots would score nine-straight points midway through the first set to pull ahead 24-16 before picking up the set point up 24-17 to seal a 25-17 first set win.
After the second set drew even at 10, UT Tyler would score 15 of the final 22 points to take the second set 25-17, opening a 2-0 lead in the final match of the day.
The final set saw UT Tyler and Hardin-Simmons trade blows before UT Tyler sealed their 11th win of the season in a 27-25 third-set win.
