Box Score ABILENE, Texas - The #25 UT Tyler Men's Soccer team concluded their road trip with a game against Hardin-Simmons. The Patriots defeated HSU 3-2, moving to 9-1-1 overall.
Jose Poo opened the scoring for UT Tyler in the fourth minute, putting the Patriots up 1-0. Poo buried his fifth goal of the season off an assist from
Lucas Pereira.
The Patriots held their 1-0 lead through the first half.
HSU tied the game in the 59th minute before UT Tyler took back the lead 22 seconds later.
Walter Castro played a free-kick into the box after a yellow card to Poo who redirected the kick to the back of the net for his second goal of the game. Poo's second goal of the afternoon put UT Tyler ahead 2-1 and gave him his sixth goal of the season.
HSU would tie the game again in the 70th minute, setting up a tense final 20 minutes of regulation play.
Just four minutes before regulation time ran out
Winner Asi netted the game-winner and his second goal of the season.
Asi played a ball off the foot of Pereira to put UT Tyler ahead 3-2 in the 86th minute of play.
The Patriots would hold HSU at bay for the final four minutes, improving to 9-1-1 on the season.
UT Tyler is back in action on Thursday, October 4 at The Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex against Sul Ross.
