TYLER, Texas - The UT Tyler Men's Soccer team played in front of home fans for the second straight game on Friday night. The Patriots hosted Texas College in a game that was delayed 70 minutes by storms in the Tyler area. UT Tyler defeated Texas College 3-0, moving to 2-1 on the season.
Lucas Pereira got the Patriots on the board in a hurry on Friday night. Pereira netted his second goal of the season in the first minute of the game. After working around a pair of defenders, the Barcelona native would bury a shot from six yards out to put UT Tyler ahead 1-0.
Neither team would net a goal through the remainder of the first half.
Just 1:03 into the second half, the Patriots pulled ahead 2-0 after Caio Godhino found the back of the net. Godhino played a ball off the foot of
Mark Guerva to net his first goal of the 2018 season.
Jose Poo added the third goal for UT Tyler on Friday night.
Noah Kubala played a free kick to the middle of the box before Poo headed the free kick past the keeper.
Parker O'Quinn and
Giancarlo Ayanegui combined for the second UT Tyler shutout of the year. O'Quinn played the first 68 minutes in net before Ayanegui played the final 22 for UT Tyler.
The Patriots return to the Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex on Sunday, September 9 when UT Tyler hosts Rhodes College. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
