ODESSA, Texas – Despite generating a 14-11 shots advantage in Sunday's visit to UT Permian Basin, the UT Tyler men's soccer team gave up a pair of first-half goals in a 3-0 defeat.
Travis Collins led all players with four shots on the day, and
Parker O'Quinn made four saves, as the Patriots dropped to 6-5-2 overall and 1-3-2 in the Lone Star Conference. UT Permian Basin improved to 5-8-1 overall and 2-4 in LSC play to move ahead of the Patriots in the conference standings.
How It Happened: UT Permian Basin scored a pair of first-half goals just over five minutes apart, turning a scoreless duel into a 2-0 halftime edge. John Karlsen scored on a free kick in the 30
th minute, and a long throw in led to another goal in the 35
th minute as Sergio Gonzalez finished the flick back from Stefan Faria to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
Karlsen nearly added another goal in the first half with a shot off the crossbar in the 38
th minute, but Kasper Wallstroem provided the final 3-0 margin with a finish of a Sergio Gonzalez assist in the 83
rd minute.
