WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS – The University of Texas at Tyler men's golf team carded a final round team total of 305 in the Midwestern State Invite to finish in a tie for 12
th place on the team leaderboard.
UT Tyler picked up head-to-head victories over a pair of Lone Star Conference foes in Arkansas-Fort Smith and Lubbock Christian, and matched Western New Mexico with an 881 (289-287-305) total for the event. Sophomore
Jackson Powers recorded his second straight individual top-25 finish in as many events for the Patriots, carding a final round 75 to finish in a tie for 24
th place at 216 (71-70-75) for the tournament.
Midwestern State defended their home turf at Wichita Falls Country Club, claiming the team total by ten strokes with an 838 (281-278-279) for the three rounds. Jake Doggett of Midwestern State cleared the field by seven strokes and finished at 15-under par to earn individual honors with a three-round total of 198 (65-68-65).
UT Tyler dropped three spots on the team leaderboard on Tuesday afternoon with the 305 total, but continued to show signs of improvement for a roster consisting of exclusively underclassman. Sophomore

Jackson Naeger both shot 76 on Tuesday to combine with Power's 75 and a 78 from sophomore
Garrett Honeycutt to round out the four counting scores for UT Tyler on the day.
Lewis finished in a tie for 30
th place, one stroke back of Powers at a four-over par 217 (71-70-76) for the event. Naeger was next up on the individual leaderboard for the Patriots with a 222 (72-74-76) in a tie for 45
th, followed by freshman
Francesco Abba, who shot 229 (75-75-79) for the three rounds.
Honeycutt rounded out the Patriots counting scoring team with a 232 (81-73-78), tying for 95
th place. Freshman
Trent Pollard shot 228 (78-72-78) as an individual competitor for the Patriots, tying for 82
nd place.
UT Tyler will conclude their non-championship fall semester with unarguably the most exciting tournament for the team at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate in Waikoloa, Hawaii. The Patriots will compete in the event on Oct. 25-27 at the Waikoloa Kings Course in what will be their final event of the fall semester.
