ANGELO STATE, TEXAS – UT Tyler conceded a goal early in the match and late in the match in a 2-0 loss at the hands of Angelo State on Saturday afternoon in San Angelo, Texas.
The Rambelles scored goals in the fifth minute and the 81
st minute to notch the win on their home pitch over the Patriots in a match that was well-contested otherwise. UT Tyler managed eight shots on the day, half of which made their way on target, and limited the Rambelles to just five shot on goal attempts.
The Patriots move to 4-8 on the year and 2-7 in Lone Star Conference play while Angelo State pushed their overall record to 11-2-2 and league record to 6-2-2.
Gabby Villagrand found the back of the net early for the Rambelles off of a corner kick attempt in the fifth minute. Both teams settled in for the remainder of the first half that proved to produce no more goals in the 45 minutes of action. Sophomore
Jordan Colbert and freshman
Sydnee Garner generated two of the three shot on goal attempts for the Patriots in the first half, both coming less than two minutes apart in the 15
th and 17
th minutes.
Senior
Taylor Dickens registered the third attempt on net for the Patriots in the 41
st minute.
Valeria Solis of Angelo State provided the breathing room needed for the Rambelles to close out the match with a penalty kick goal in the 81
st minute.
Freshman
Vanessa Bart threatened to even the match up just minutes prior to the penalty kick opportunity with the fourth shot on goal attempt for the Patriots of the match in the 76
th minute.
UT Tyler will stay on the road on Wednesday afternoon for a 4 p.m. contest against St. Edward's.
