WAIMEA, HAWAII – The UT Tyler women's golf team posted a final round 303 to claim a top-five finish at the 2021 Dennis Rose Intercollegiate on Wednesday afternoon.
The 303 in Wednesday's final round brought the squad's team total to 914 (304-307-303), placing the Patriots in fifth out of 12 teams in the event. Senior
Raelynn Hardgrave claimed a top-10 individual finish thanks to a final round 74, running her three-round total up to 225 (76-75-74) for the event.
Grand Valley State won the event with a team total of 889 (297-298-294) for the three rounds at the Hapuna Golf Resort, closing out the tournament with a final round score of 294. Brady Turnquist of Biola University won individuals honors with a final round 72 and an event total of 214 (72-70-72).
Four out of the five Patriots from the scoring team finished in the top 25 on the individual leaderboard in what was a steady performance from the team to close out the fall semester of events. Hardgrave's 74 was supported by a 75 from junior
Zoe Mayfield on Wednesday afternoon.
Freshman
Brooke Wagner closed out her first semester of collegiate golf with her best tournament to date, shooting 78 in the final round to finish in 16
th place with a 229 (76-75-78) total for the event. Mayfield finished 17
th after her closing 75, while
Julia Kerrigan and
Kaitlyn Charles both posted rounds of 77 on Wednesday afternoon to round out the counting scores for the Patriots.
Kerrigan finished in a tie for 18
th place with a 231 (76-78-77) total and Charles completed her tournament at 236 (76-83-77), good enough for a tie for 30
th place. Junior
Lauren Christl also shot a 236 (76-79-81) for the event as an individual competitor.
UT Tyler claimed a few victories over regional foes in the event, and closed out a fall non-championship slate of events in which they posted three top-five team finishes in The Swan Memorial, West Texas A&M Fall Invitational and now the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate.
The spring schedule of events will be announced soon for the Patriots as the team will begin their offseason work in preparation for the 2022 spring championship semester.
