AMARILLO, TEXAS – The UT Tyler women's golf team shot a season-low 296 in the opening round of the West Texas A&M Fall Invitational on Monday afternoon at Tascosa Country Club to sit in a tie for second place on the team leaderboard.
The Patriots best round to date in the 2021-22 season placed them in a three-way tie alongside #13 Texas A&M-Commerce and #17 West Texas A&M heading into tomorrow's final round. Junior
Kaitlyn Charles shined on Monday afternoon for UT Tyler thanks to a back-nine 36 that featured a trio of birdies to sit in a tie for fifth on the individual leaderboard.

Grant Spencer's team, as
Raelynn Hardgrave posted a 74 while
Julia Kerrigan and
Zoe Mayfield both shot rounds of 75.
Hardgrave will enter tomorrow in a tie for 12
th, while Kerrigan and Mayfield are tied in 17
th place on the leaderboard. Freshman
Brooke Wagner rounded out the scoring team with a 78, while individual competitor
Lauren Christl shot a 79.
UT Tyler led the field with 53 pars on the day alongside Arkansas-Fort Smith and Oklahoma Christian, and recorded 11 birdies as a team in round one.
The Patriots will enter tomorrow's round three strokes back of overnight leader Angelo State, who paced the field with a team score of 293. West Texas A&M's Alyssa Campbell is four shots clear of the field after a six-under 65 on Monday.
Angelo State, Texas A&M-Commerce, West Texas A&M and UT Tyler will all be paired together for tomorrow's 9 a.m. shotgun start off holes 1-through-4.
