CANYON, TEXAS – A magical run to end the 2021 spring season for UT Tyler men's soccer came to an end in the semifinals of the 2021 Spring Lone Star Conference Men's Soccer Championship in a 2-0 loss to no. 1 seed West Texas A&M.
The Patriot defensive effort that led the team to it's first appearance in the Lone Star Conference postseason tournament with three straight 1-0 wins to finish the regular season finally gave way to a pair of second half goals for the Buffs. The no. 1 seed Buffs scored those two goals on just four shots on goal in the effort, ending the Patriot's spring season despite a heroic run into the postseason for UT Tyler.
The Patriot defense held their seventh-straight half with a clean sheet into the final 45 minutes of action in Canyon, Texas on Saturday afternoon, before the Buffs finally found the back of the net in the 66
th and 81
st minute to advance to Monday night's 2021 Spring Lone Star Conference Men's Soccer Championship match on their home field.
The Patriots totaled five shots on the night, three of which were on target, but couldn't manage to continue their run in the program's first appearance in the LSC postseason tournament.

Ramiro Alvarez were credited with the scoring chances for UT Tyler with the three shot on goal attempts.
The Buffs outshot the Patriots by a 12-5 margin the contest.

Kenny Jones and his squad will be back in the fall semester to prove that the final three wins to secure their spot in the tournament are a sign of what's to come for the program as they hopefully are granted full-fledged Division II status entering the championship season.
