UT Tyler jumped up a spot into second place after a final round 308 on Tuesday morning in the 2021 Swan Memorial

THORNTON, COLO. – The University of Texas at Tyler women's golf team took second place in the 2021 Swan Memorial with a team total of 929 (316-305-308) on Tuesday afternoon in Thornton, Colo.

The Patriots moved up a position on the leaderboard after both the second and third rounds, and finished behind only Colorado-Colorado Springs on the team leaderboard. Senior Raelynn Hardgrave fired a final round 74 to finish in a tie for second place on the individual leaderboard alongside Colorado Mesa's Elly Walters and Colorado Christian's Faith Kilgore with a three-round total of 224.

Colorado-Colorado Springs finished five shots clear of the Patriots for the team title with a 924 (311-302-311) total at Todd Creek Golf Club. Colorado-Colorado Springs' Julia Baroth took home individual honors with an even par three-round total of 216 (74-72-70) for the event.

The final round 308 for UT Tyler moved the Patriots ahead of Lone Star Conference foe Midwestern State on the leaderboard as the Mustangs struggled to a 313 in the final round and entered the day in second place, one spot ahead of UT Tyler. The move up the board solidified the Patriots as top finishers amongst Lone Star Conference teams, and also secured in-region wins over multiple South Central Region opponents.

Hardgrave finished fourth in the field with eight birdies between the three rounds, three of which came in Tuesday's final round. She posted nine-hole totals of 37-37 on Tuesday, and recorded just a single hole in which she made a double bogey or worse in the 54-hole event.

Sophomore Julia Kerrigan moved up 11 spots on the individual leaderboard with a 75 on Tuesday morning, finishing the event alongside teammate Zoe Mayfield in a tie for eighth with a three-round total of 234 (79-80-75). Mayfield fired the third best round on Tuesday for the Patriots with a 78 to finish the tournament with rounds of 79-77-78.

Freshman Brooke Wagner finished up her 2021 Swan Memorial with an 81 in the final round, and finished in 20th place for the tournament with a three-day total of 237 (80-76-81). Sophomore Sora Kim stayed consistent throughout the three rounds and shot an 83 on Tuesday to finish with a 250 (83-84-83) total for the three days and a tie for 57th place finish.

Hardgrave, Mayfield and Kerrigan all add top-10 finishes to their resume in the second tournament of the fall semester for the Patriots. UT Tyler made the second most birdies in the field (25) and led the event with a team scoring average of 3.38 on the par threes.

The Patriots are scheduled to be in action for the third week in a row on Sept. 19-21 at the DBU Classic at Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch.
