UT Tyler Continues Winning Streak with Third Consecutive Sweep

The Patriots have now won 12 straight sets following a no-doubt 3-0 win over Oklahoma Christian on the road on Wednesday night

EDMOND, OKLA. – UT Tyler volleyball held the advantage in every statistical category to roll to their third consecutive Lone Star Conference sweep in a 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-16) road win over Oklahoma Christian.
 
The Patriots hit .336 for the match and didn't allow Oklahoma Christian to reach the 20-point mark in any set to extend their set-win streak to 12 straight on Wednesday night. Senior Mikayla Ware had 15 kills and classmate Hannah Callison posted 10 kills to pace a Patriot offense that totaled 46 kills while committing just a combined 10 attacking errors in the match.
 
UT Tyler also held the advantage in digs by a 57-to-41 margin, out-blocked the Lady Eagles by a 6-to-4 total, and put across five service aces to Oklahoma Christian's three in the no-doubt victory from start-to-finish. The Patriots led by at least 10 points in both the first and third sets and move to 15-7 on the year and 8-3 in Lone Star Conference play.
 
A 13-3 run for UT Tyler opened up their first 10-point lead in the match coming out of the 6-6 mark of the opening frame. The Patriot's extended lead negated a pair of multi-point runs for the Lady Eagles in the late stages of the first set to claim the 25-16 victory.
 
UT Tyler put down kills in 18 of their first 32 swings of the night and committed just a pair of attacking errors in the opening frame to begin the match with a .500 hitting percentage as a team. The Patriot didn't commit more than five errors in any of the three sets, and totaled 15 or more kills in both the first and third sets.
 
UT Tyler put together another key scoring run midway through the second set, this time a 5-1 string of points that opened a 17-12 lead in the Patriot's favor. Ware and Callison combined for kills in two out the final three points of the set to close out the 25-19 victory.
 
Set number three was all Patriots as a 10-4 lead to start the set turned into a 15-5 advantage for UT Tyler, and ended with a second 25-16 win of the night and a 12th straight set victory in a row. The Patriots put down 15 kills in 41 swings in the set for a .268 hitting percentage.
 
Senior Savannah Guzman led the way with 19 digs, and was joined with 10 or more digs on the night by Addison Evans, who posted 12. Freshman Saige Rivera totaled a team high 22 assists.
 
UT Tyler will enjoy a weekend off before returning to play next Wednesday in a road contest at UAFS.
