PORTALES, N.M. – The UT Tyler women's soccer team couldn't manage a win on Friday afternoon in a 1-0 loss at Eastern New Mexico despite a host of quality chances in the second half of action.
A long-shot score from the Greyhounds in the 10
th minute of play was enough to spoil UT Tyler's must-win situation as they entered the match two points back of Midwestern State for the seventh and final available spot in the 2022 Lone Star Conference Women's Soccer Championships. UT Tyler finishes the 2022 season with a 7-5-5 record, and a 2-5-5 mark in Lone Star Conference play.
UT Tyler controlled the possession for the entirety of the 90 minutes and put a pair of shots on target, but couldn't beat a Greyhound team that effectively packed it in on the defensive side of the field in the second half of action. The Patriots totaled eight shots on the afternoon, including four that made their way on target, but couldn't find the back of the net in what will be their final match of the 2022 season.
UT Tyler will have a lot to build on after a season that saw the Patriots total the most wins in the Division II era for the program, appear in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Rankings for the first time and completed the year undefeated in non-conference play.
