TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler baseball will begin their annual Fall World Series on Wednesday and hold a three game series regardless of series standing.
Wednesday's contest will begin at 7:30 p.m., Thursday night's game will begin at 6 p.m., and Friday's finale will start at 5 p.m. after a schedule adjustment due to the forecasted weather this weekend.
UT Tyler ended the 2022 season as one of the final four remaining teams in the LSC Tournament and narrowly missing out on their first NCAA South Central Regional Tournament appearance.
In a tightly contested Lone Star Conference, the Patriots would post a 31-22 overall record and earned the #5 seed in the LSC Tournament. That led to a tough first round matchup against #4 seed Texas A&M-Kingsville, but the Patriots would come away with a 2-1 series victory and earn their spot in the final four. In that final four, the Patriots would drop games to Angelo State and St. Edward's to bow out of the tournament, but that would be the best finish of the Division II era for UT Tyler.
The Patriots will see several solid contributers return from the 2022 roster as All-Region Selections
Dylan Blomquist and
A.J. Irvin will each return into possibly an even bigger role. All-Lone Star Conference Third teamer
Tommy van de Sanden also returns, alone with All-LSC Defensive Teamer
Riley Lambert. More critical returners include
Jordan Gochenour,
Ethan Bedgood,
Carson Cox, and
Garrett Arredondo.
The two sides have been drafted by senior captains
Edward Ortiz,
Carson Cox, Adrian Minjares,
Hayden Collins,
Jordan Gochenour, and
A.J. Irvin of the Navy team, and
Riley Lambert,
Nolan Cox,
Judson Schaper, Brett Vasquez,
Tommy van de Sanden, and
Nathan Holmes of the Orange team.
