SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The UT Tyler women's golf team sits in a tie for 5
th place following an opening round team total of 305 in the first round of the 2022 Women's Rattler Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
The Patriots matched #18 Texas A&M-Commerce with that opening round 305 on Monday afternoon at The Dominion Country Club, on a day in which an early morning frost delay shortened the schedule rounds to just a single 18 holes. #10 West Texas A&M paced the field with a first round 292, followed by a pair of Lone Star Conference foes in St. Mary's (297) and Texas A&M International (300) in second and third place.
Senior
Raelynn Hardgrave made four birdies in route to an opening-round 75 to lead the way for UT Tyler, and sits just three strokes back of the individual lead in a tie for 12
th place. Six different players posted even-par rounds of 72 on Monday afternoon to sit atop the individual leaderboard.
Hardgrave played the front nine at The Dominion Country Club at one-under par thanks to three birdies on holes one, four and seven. She posted a back-nine 40 to finish the day three-over par.
Sophomore
Julia Kerrigan also played well on the front nine, posting a one-over total of 36, and finished her first round with a 76. Kerrigan sits in a tie for 17
th place on the individual leaderboard.
Senior
Zoe Mayfield and freshman
Brooke Wagner rounded out the counting scores for the Patriots on the day with rounds of 77, and each sit in a tie for 20
th place on the leaderboard. Junior
Kaitlyn Charles shot a first round score of 79 to sit in a tie for 30
th place, while sophomore
Sora Kim posted a round of 83 as an individual competitor.
The Patriots sit ahead of four different LSC foes and will look to jump into the mix in what will now be just a 36-hole event with tomorrow's final round.
Play in that final round is slated for an 8:15 start.
