SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The UT Tyler women's golf team shot the low round of the field in Tuesday's final round of the 2022 Women's Rattler Invitational to jump into a third-place finish after a team score of 297.
The Patriots overtook no. 25 Texas A&M International and no. 27 Henderson State with that final round 297, the lowest round of the day by three strokes at The Dominion Country Club. Senior
Raelynn Hardgrave posted the best individual score of Tuesday's final round as well, carding six birdies on the day to finish with a two-under round of 70.
Hardgrave's under-par final round moved the senior up 10 spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for second place with a two-round total of 145 (75-70) for the event. She finished just a single stroke back of individual champion Megan Brown of Southwestern Oklahoma State, who carded rounds of 72-72 for an even-par 144 total.
UT Tyler finished 10 strokes back of team champion no. 10 West Texas A&M, and just two strokes shy of no. 20 St. Mary's in second place with their 602 (305-297) final tally for the event. The Patriots collected wins over six different Lone Star Conference foes and a pair of top-25 ranked opponents with the third-place finish.
Senior
Zoe Mayfield jumped up 10 spots on the individual leaderboard alongside Hardgrave after a stellar final round score of 73 on Tuesday. Mayfield made four birdies to finish one-over par for the day, and completed her tournament in a tie for 10
th place with rounds of 77-73 for a 150 total.
Hardgrave and Mayfield led UT Tyler to what stands as the team's third top-three finish of the season after a second-place finish back at The Swan Memorial on Sep. 13-14 and a tie for third at the West Texas A&M Fall Invitational on Oct. 4-5.
Sophomore
Julia Kerrigan matched Mayfield for that 10
th place finish with a final round 74 to combine with a first-round score of 76 to finish with a 150 total. Kerrigan made three birdies on the day to post nine-hole scores of 36-38 for the round of 74.
Freshman
Brooke Wagner carded a final round 80 to round out the four counting scores for UT Tyler on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 25
th place with rounds of 77-80. Junior
Kaitlyn Charles posted an 81 on Tuesday to finish in 35
th place with a 160 (79-81) total.
Sophomore
Sora Kim posted rounds of 83-85 as an individual competitor to finish in a tie for 59
th place with a 168 total score.
The Patriots will head to Destin, Fla. for their next event at the Emerald Coast Classic at Sandestin-Baytowne Golf Club on Mar. 13-15.
