UT Tyler Fights to 0-0 Draw Against Texas Woman's

TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler fought their way to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday night against Texas Woman's.

A physical, high-level defensive match was put on display for both teams as quality chances proved hard to come by. Texas Woman's won the shot battle 11-to-7, five of which were on target.

UT Tyler had their best chances of the night in the early stages of the second half, as junior Mackenzee Stokes nearly beat the Pioneer keeper to a through ball in the 48th minute, but couldn't reach the pass in time before the keeper came sliding in. Senior Payton Taylor put a bouncing cross over the top of the cross bar just a few minutes later on what was a quality chance in the 52nd minute.

Sophomore Melissa Oliveira put the only other shot on target for the Patriots in the second half in the 72nd minute.

The keeper duo of Emily Clark and Daniella Wilken combined for a clean sheet with five total saves.

Stokes notched a pair of shots on goal, while Garner matched Stokes with two shots for the night.

UT Tyler sits with seven points in Lone Star Conference play with a record of 0-2-7 in league action and will face near must-wins in their final three games of the regular season if they hope to qualify as one of seven teams in the 2023 Lone Star Conference Women's Soccer Championships at season's end.

The Patriots will begin the trio of games to close out the regular season on Saturday afternoon on the road at Angelo State at 1 p.m.
