AMARILLO, TEXAS – A trio of even par rounds from
Seth Campbell,
Gage Burnham and
Jackson Naeger led to a final round 289 and tie for 12
th place finish for UT Tyler men's golf at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invite.
UT Tyler tied with Lone Star Conference foe St. Mary's in 12
th place and bettered conference opponents UAFS, Texas A&M International and Lubbock Christian in their second event of the 2023-24 season. Campbell, one of three Patriots to finish the third and final round at Amarillo Country Club at even-par, landed in a tie for 18
th spot on the individual leaderboard following rounds of 74-71-71 in the event.
DBU claimed the team crown with a one-under par total team score of 851 (276-290-285). Sangha Park of UT Permian Basin won the individual crown in a play-off against Colorado School of Mines' Lukas Taggart following rounds of 63-70-71 to finish nine-under par for the event.
Cambell and Naeger each made three birdies and three bogeys for their even-par rounds of 71, while Burnham went for two birdies and a pair of bogeys for his 71. Burnham finished in a tie for 27
th place with rounds of 76-71-71 for a 218 total and Naeger in a tie for 49
th place with rounds of 75-76-71 for a 222 total.
Junior
Carson Wray provided the fourth counting score of the day for the Patriots with a final round 76 to finish In a tie for 55
th place at 224 (73-75-76).
Senior
Alex Kopenhaver rounded out the scoring for UT Tyler with a final round 80 to post a 229 (75-74-80) for the event.
UT Tyler will be back in action on Oct. 16-17 at The Hrncair in Lawton, Okla.
