LAST TIME OUT
Over last week, the Patriots battled their way to a 2-2 draw against RV St. Mary's and then dropped a 4-2 deficit to DBU. In the contest against the Rattlers,
Jordan Toy slotted home his first goal of his Patriots career and
Omar Belahna scored his second in a furious first half. Against DBU,
Luis Mahecha found the netting for his third goal in the last four games while
Rodrigo Mendes tacked on his fourth of the year , but the DBU second half rally proved to be too much.
ALL TO PLAY FOR
The Lone Star Conference Tournament field remains up in the air, as the only seeds locked in are #1 Midwestern State and #2 West Texas A&M. The Patriots currently sit in 9
th with seven total points, but a win on Wednesday night plus a DBU loss and Texas A&M International loss or tie would allow the Patriots to make the leap into the LSC Tournament field for the second time in the Division II era.
WHAT KENNY JONES IS SAYING
On last week's action: "Yeah both were big games for us. I think the guys are willing for us for sure to play and give their best. It's the time of the year where little things matter the most. Unfortunately the guys are still learning. We are just going to continue to fight and that is the message to the guys."
On the message for the final game: "We can't have any self-doubt, we have to have confidence in what we are. We have a good team, and we need to focus on all of the things that make us successful. It's just making sure that mentality and all of the things those good teams have are unwavering."
On the offensive explosion: "I think we refocused a little bit. We had a stretch where that wasn't the case. I think we just change up our approach a little bit and then defensively the focus is on preventing those goals."
