WHAT COACH MASHE IS SAYING

On the turnaround the team has made in the final eight matches to close out the regular season... "I think we made some changes to our lineup and it gave us a belief that we could hang in more games. It's allowed us to get more people involved offensively at different times. It's no surprise that if you can pass and defend better than you can have a more efficient offense and so I think that's been part of it. I think when our back's have been against the wall, our team has done a good job of responding and has come to play. We did a great job last weekend, in our mind we wanted to go 2-0, and what a great way to go into the conference tournament with some confidence and I thought our team played great."

On the outlook for the 2023 Lone Star Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament... "It's championship season and everybody is 0-0. It's a clean slate. What we've done or not done really doesn't matter at this point. We have to have a different mentality and I think our team is just really excited, we at one point were sitting on the brink of maybe not even getting in, so I think our team is so excited for the opportunity to play in the conference tournament again. Angelo State is going to be a different team than the one we saw on Saturday in my opinion. It's a neutral court, everybody is thinking the same thing, you're one loss and done. I expect our team to step up. We're excited we don't have as long of travel and we expect alot of parents, family and friends to show up and what a great opportunity for them to watch our team at a high level."
