#4 UT Tyler Rolls to Fourth Straight Lone Star Conference Sweep

DENTON, TEXAS – UT Tyler recorded 12 hits and Tatum Goff moved to a perfect 20-0 on the year in the circle in a run-rule 9-1 victory over Texas Woman's.

Juniors Courtney Plocheck and Michelle Arias both went 3-for-4 on an afternoon in which the Patriot offense picked up right where they left off in yesterday's doubleheader victories to sweep the Pioneers on their home field. Arias was a double away from the cycle in the ballgame, recording a single, a triple and a homer while notching four RBI in the process.

Goff went the complete six innings and allowed just a pair of Pioneer hits while striking out nine to stay a perfect 20-0 on the year. The Rusk, Texas native leads the Lone Star Conference in both wins (20) and ERA (1.30).

UT Tyler scored eight unanswered runs to enact the run-rule in the sixth inning in what was a 1-1 game after one inning of play. Junior Audrey Escamilla scored JT Smith on a sac fly to right to give UT Tyler the 1-0 lead on their first trip to the plate.

A solo homer for Texas Woman's quickly tied the game in the bottom of the first, but three consecutive strikeouts for Goff set the tone for what would be a dominant outing from that point forward.

Arias drove in the go-ahead run to start off a three-run top of the third for the Patriots with an RBI single through the left side. Sophomore Keely Castillo followed that at-bat up with a double down the leftfield line that scored Arias and Plocheck to extend the lead to 4-1.

UT Tyler went back to work offensively in the fifth inning with an additional three runs, beginning with an RBI triple from Arias to right center. That 5-1 lead was extended to 7-1 after a walk from Caitlin Wells with the bases loaded, and an ensuing hit by pitch on Smith.

Arias put an exclamation point on her game and the series with a no-doubt two-run homer in the top of the sixth to put the run-rule in effect with the 9-1 advantage for UT Tyler.

Schott joined Arias and Plocheck in with multi-hit efforts with a 3-for-4 day. Arias filled up the stat sheet with three runs scored in addition to her four RBI.

UT Tyler will return home this weekend for a Saturday-Sunday series against (RV) Oklahoma Christian beginning Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
