Baseball Under Consideration in First NCAA Regional Rankings

TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler baseball is under consideration in the first release of the NCAA Division II South Central Region Rankings that were announced by the NCAA on Wednesday afternoon.

This week's rankings list teams in alphabetical order that are under consideration for one of six available spots in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament. The next two editions in the following weeks will provide ranked listings ahead of the announcement of the NCAA Division II National Championship field on Sunday, May 14th.

The winners of both the Lone Star Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference postseason tournaments will earn automatic qualification into the South Central Region Tournament while the final four spots will be filled by at-large selections.

The South Central Region Tournament will be hosted at two separate sites on May 18-20 with the winners of those two sites meeting in the South Central Region finals for a best of three series to be held on May 26-27 at the top seed's site.

The winner of that series will then move on to the NCAA Division II College World Series to be held June 3-10 in Cary, North Carolina.

The Patriots were one of five Lone Star Conference teams to be included in the initial release, joined by Angelo State, Lubbock Christian, St. Edward's, and Texas A&M-Kingsville.

UT Tyler is sitting at #24 in the Collegiate Baseball Top 30 and Receiving Votes in the NCBWA Top 25 as they host UAFS in a four game series to wrap up the regular season beginning on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Irwin Field.
