CANYON, TEXAS – (RV) UT Tyler fell by a 3-0 (30-32, 20-25, 16-25) final to DBU in the first match of the Lone Star Conference Crossover on Thursday afternoon.
A marathon 32-30 first set gave way to decisive second and third sets in favor of DBU to move UT Tyler to 5-4 on the season. Freshman
Shaye Koski led UT Tyler with 13 kills in the match.
UT Tyler led throughout the early stages of the opening set of the match with an advantage that reached as many as four at the 13-9 mark. DBU battled back in the later stages of the set, but UT Tyler managed set point at the 24-23 mark.
Both teams reach set point on a few occasions in extra points of the opening frame before DBU managed to string together a trio of kills to take the 32-30 victory.
DBU jumped ahead early in the second set at 12-6 before the Patriots managed to narrow the deficit to 16-14. A key run of five unanswered points for DBU set the stage for a 25-20 victory and a 2-0 advantage in the match.
DBU was able to close out the match in three sets with a 25-16 win in the third.
Setter
Adeline Ortman reached double-double figures for the second match in a row with 22 assists and 11 digs. Libero
Addison Evans notched her third consecutive match with 20-plus digs with a team-high 20 on Thursday.
Sophomore
Brylee Peterson totaled six kills for a Patriot offense that hit .114 on the afternoon with 37 kills on 132 swings.
UT Tyler will return to the court in Canyon tomorrow afternoon for a 3 p.m. first serve against Texas A&M International.
