Patriots Close Out Non-Conference Play With 0-0 Draw at Harding

SEARCY, ARK. – UT Tyler and Harding battled to a 0-0 draw on Saturday morning in Searcy, Ark.

The two teams combined for 16 shots on goal in the contest, but neither managed to convert on the bevy of opportunities to complete the 90 minutes of play in a scoreless draw. UT Tyler keeper's Daniella Wilken and Emily Clark, who each completed a half in goal on Saturday, made seven saves on the afternoon.

Both Patriots produced highlighted saves on set pieces in their respective half's in net to produce a combined rock-solid output.

Sophomore Brooke Mullins led the Patriots with three shots in the game, joining junior Sydnee Garner with a pair of shots on goal, to highlight the UT Tyler offensive attack. The Patriots outshot the Lady Bisons 13-to-12, nine of which found their way on target.

UT Tyler got off to a fast start offensively, notching four shots on goal in the first 20 minutes of action. The Patriots added another shot on target in the late stages of the first half for five total in the first 45 minutes of action.

25 percent of the UT Tyler possession took place in the attacking third of the pitch in a half in which UT Tyler won the possession battle with 52 percent of ball control.

Wilken kept Harding off the board with four saves in the opening half of action to take the 0-0 score into the halftime break. Clark took over in net for the final 45 minutes of play and notched three saves of her own.

UT Tyler took seven shots in the first 35 minutes of play in the second half, three of which were on target. Junior Launa Torrez and Garner provided the two best scoring chances of the match for the Patriots less than five minutes apart in the second half.

Torrez broke away on a through ball in the 75th minute and Garner generated a one-on-one opportunity in the 78th minute to test the Harding keeper, both of which were saved to keep the scoreless result in-tact. Neither team managed a shot attempt in the final 10 minutes of the match as both defenses locked-in to earn the result for either side.

The result completes the non-conference schedule for UT Tyler with a 2-1-2. The Patriots will begin Lone Star Conference play on Sept. 20th on the road at St. Mary's.
