LUBBOCK, TEXAS – UT Tyler women's volleyball used a big day on offense to take their second consecutive victory and close out the long weekend road trip 2-0.

As a team the Patriots totaled 74 kills and a hitting percentage of .195 while holding a 6-4 ace advantage and adding in nine total blocks to hold off Lubbock Christian on Saturday afternoon.
The first set saw the two teams battle tightly as they remained square at 4-4. The Patriots then ripped off a 14-6 run to roll out to a huge 18-10 advantage as
Bonnie Hegarty added in three kills and two block assists during the run.
The Lady Chaps would close the game to 22-18 with their own key run, but a service error, attack error, and a Hegarty kill would close out the set and give the Patriots a 1-0 advantage.
Shaye Koski hit her stride in a big way in the second set, as she picked up 11 of her 23 kills in the match. The set's largest lead was 9-4 by the Patriots, but the Lady Chaps closed the gap and forced the set into extra points as they evened up the match at 1-1 with a 32-30 set win.
Set three saw Lubbock Christian get off on a hot streak as they continued their momentum from a key second set win. They rattled off six straight points and 10 of the first 12 in the set, but the Patriots dug their heels in and came up with their own 7-3 run to pull within four. The Lady Chaps would pull away at a score of 20-14, but again the Patriots found a way to battle back as they scored seven straight points to take the lead for the first time in the set.
Lubbock Christian again answered the bell as they scored four straight points themselves to hold the lead and set point, but UT Tyler went on another dramatic run as they scored five straight points right back to take the third set and a 2-1 lead.
With all of the momentum back on their side, a 10-3 run opened up the fourth set as five different Patriots posted a kill, including three by Koski. The Lady Chaps again put up a big fight, but the lead never got closer than 23-20 as the Patriots took the fourth set by a score of 25-21 to secure the match.
