Webb Earns 300th Career Win, Patriots Shutout Lady Buffs 2-0 for Tenth Win

Second half goals from Sydnee Garner and Ella Anderson led UT Tyler to a 2-0 victory over West Texas A&M, the 300th career win for head coach Stefani Webb and the tenth win of the 2024 season

CANYON, TEXAS – A pair of second half goals earned UT Tyler a 2-0 road victory over West Texas A&M on Saturday morning.

Graduate student Sydnee Garner broke a scoreless tie three minutes into the second half and an Ella Anderson goal provided an insurance goal a short time later to give the Patriots their tenth win of the 2024 season. Head coach Stefani Webb earned the 300th win of her collegiate coaching career with a victory that capped off a week in which the Patriots out-scored their opposition by a 12-to-0 total.

UT Tyler moves to 10-2-3 on the year and 5-2-3 in Lone Star Conference play with the victory while West Texas A&M falls to 6-7-1 and 3-5-1 in league play.

UT Tyler couldn't find the back of the net in the opening half despite seven shot attempts, but quickly jumped ahead in the match just three minutes into the second half on a solo effort from Garner. Garner forced a turnover at midfield, beat a pair of Lady Buff defenders, and then delivered a well-placed shot from outside the box into the back of the net.

The Patriots kept West Texas A&M in check all afternoon, surrendering just three shots on target in the 90 minutes of action, all three of which were answered by keeper Emily Clark.

Anderson added the insurance goal in the 69th minute, touching a cross from Jacqueline Wiebe over the top of the Lady Buff keeper for the 2-0 lead. Wiebe beat the West Texas A&M backline to the corner and delivered a great ball straight to the foot of the wide-open freshman in front of the net for Anderson's fourth goal of the season.

UT Tyler continued to stifle West Texas A&M offensively for their second shutout of the week after defeating Sul Ross State on Wednesday night by a 10-0 total. The Patriots won the shot battle by a 13-to-10 final, putting an efficient eight of their efforts on target.

Webb moves to 300-144-44 in her 28th season as a collegiate head coach with the victory. The Patriots have notched their first 10-win season of the Division II era and their first double-digit win total season since 2018.

Four different Patriots notched multiple shots in the game.

UT Tyler has three matches remaining on the schedule, two of which will take place on their home pitch, beginning with a Friday evening meeting with Lubbock Christian at 5:30 p.m.
