WHAT COACH MASHE IS SAYING
On the regular season finales... "Obviously the reverse sweep of Lubbock Christian was a great win. It took us a little while to get going in the first two sets, Lubbock Christian came out and played phenomenal. They played so hard and really gave us our money's worth. I was proud of our team and just the way we responded in the third and really caught fire. It was a quick turnaround the next day at Angelo State. I think we played point for point for the majority of the sets, but at the end of the day you can look back at the unforced errors. We've got to cut those down when we're playing good teams. We can look back and see the things we didn't execute, but we did play very hard and I was proud of that."
On the defensive play that has led the team over the last few weeks... "It really showed against Lubbock Christian. We didn't block well in the first two sets, but then in the third our block became a major factor and I think we ended up with 17 total blocks, which was great. When our block is on, it really helps everything other part of our game. It's been a big part of our success, when they're getting quality touches at the net or blocks. We are at our best as a team when everybody is doing their job and that's been a big emphasis."
On the start of postseason play this weekend... "We have got to be UT Tyler volleyball and continue to worry about our side of the net and execute. I think we need to go have fun, we're a team that plays well when we are loose and have fun and enjoy the process. That will be the message. Let's go enjoy championship season, we've worked hard to get ourselves in the place we're sitting, so that will be the message for us."
