#8 UT Tyler Splits the Day at Cameron

LAWTON, OKLA. – Audrey Escamilla and Sam Schott both homered twice on the day as #8 UT Tyler went 1-1 on the road at Cameron on Tuesday afternoon.

Escamilla's pair of homers came in a 10-7 game one victory against Cameron, while Schott added one in the first game and another in a 4-2 game two loss at the hands of the Aggies. Escamilla finished her day 5-for-7 at the plate and registered five RBI, all of which came in game one.

The Patriots move to 9-5 on the year and 1-4 in Lone Star Conference play.

Game 1

Four Patriots registered double-digit hits in a 10-7 slugfest win over the Aggies in game one.

The two clubs combined to hit five homers in the game, two of which came off the bat of Escamilla. A three-run homer in the top of the third and a two-run homer in the top of the fifth from the Weslaco, Texas native proved to be largely the difference in a game that featured 18 hist between the two teams.

Cassidi Mullen and Tara Stewart drove in the first two runs of the afternoon in the top of the second on an RBI triple from Mullen and a single from Stewart. Escamilla's first homer of the game, a three-run shot, extended that lead to 5-0 in the third.

Schott followed up that three-run blast with a solo homer in the ensuing at-bat to make it 6-0 midway through the third.

Cameron exploded for five runs on four hits in the bottom of the frame to cut the once multi-run Patriot advantage to just a single run at 6-5.

Neither offense managed any damage in the fourth before Escamilla struck for her second homer of the game in the top of the fifth, a two-run shot that made it 8-5. Schott and Mullen drove in runs on a single and fielder's choice in the top of the seventh to make it 10-5 before Cameron hit the fifth homer of the game in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run blast that brought the final to it's eventual 10-7 final.

Escamilla went 2-for-4 with five RBI and a pair of runs scored. Schott provided a 2-for-3 effort with two RBI.

Mullen and Courtney Plocheck added the third and fourth multi-hit days with 2-for-4 outings. Mullen notched a pair of RBI as well.

Junior Kaylee Davis picked up the win in the circle after taking over for starter Genesis Armendariz in the third inning. Davis went 4.0 innings and allowed two earned runs on three hits.

Junior Christin Haywood finished off the game with an inning thrown in the seventh and allowed just a single hit.

Game 2

Cameron was able to capitalize on an early advantage to take game two by a 4-2 final.

The Aggies hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the third and then held off a late inning rally from the Patriots to win game two. Escamilla went for another multi-hit game with a 2-for-3 effort.

Junior JT Smith answered the three-run blast by Cameron in the top of the fourth with an RBI double that scored Escamilla to make it 3-1. Armendariz came back into the circle after her start in game one in relief of freshman Crimson Bryant in the third inning and conceded her lone blemish in the bottom of the fourth on an unearned Aggie run.

The 4-1 advantage for Cameron carried through the fifth until Schott hit her second solo homer of the day in the top of the sixth to make it 4-2. Armendariz stuckout six of the final seven batters she faced, but the Patriot offense couldn't generate any more damage in their final trip to the plate in the seventh.

Mullen, Schott and Smith added hits to Escamilla's 2-for-3 day.
