Last weekend saw the Patriots host Texas A&M International inside Irwin Field. In that four game set, the Dustdevils took each of the first two contests, but the Patriots battled back with a walk off win to close out doubleheader Saturday and then a pitching duel win on Sunday afternoon to take the series split and move to 11-9 on the year.

After the weekend contests concluded, the Patriots were ranked #5 in the latest edition of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association South Central Regional Rankings. This week saw West Texas A&M hold on to the top spot, followed by CSU Pueblo and Angelo State in the top three of the rankings.

PATRIOTS NOTES AND TRENDS

- UT Tyler finished the 2023 season 39-19 overall and 34-14 in LSC play on the way to finishing 3rd in the LSC and making the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the Division II era.
- The Patriots defended Irwin Field in huge way last season, going 22-5 in games at home. Going back to their first season of Division II eligibility (2022), the Patriots are now 43-20 inside Irwin Field.
- Head Coach Brent Porche enters his eighth season with UT Tyler and holds a record of 226-108 with the Patriots. He holds a career record of 373-191 in his 11 total seasons.
- The Patriots will return several key contributors to the 2023 season, including All-Americans Garrett Arredondo and Dylan Blomquist, as well as All-Region nods Lane Hutchinson and Austin Ochoa. LSC Freshman of the Year Kaston Mason makes his return, as well as All-LSC nods Ethan Bedgood and Miles Clack.
- For the Patriots offense, they have been led by the duo of Lane Hutchinson and Ethan Bedgood. The pair is hitting .394 and .387, respectively, on the year. They have combined for 15 doubles, five home runs, and 37 RBI.
- The Patriots pitching staff sees Rawley Hector lead the starters with a 3.80 ERA over 23.2 innings pitched. He has 18 strikeouts and just 10 earned runs. From the bullpen, Bryson Adair holds a 2.16 ERA over 8.1 innings pitched while posting one save.

- Texas A&M-Kingsville is 12-10 on the year and 10-10 in LSC play coming into this weekend's series. They are coming off of a 3-1 series win against UT Permian Basin.
