RICHARDSON, TEXAS – Rawley Hector of UT Tyler baseball has earned Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week honors after a huge Friday night start against UT Permian Basin.
Hector is the first LSC player of the week honoree of the 2024 season for the Patriots, and the first since
Kaston Mason back on April 4, 2023.
In a Friday night contest that the Patriots won 11-0 over UT Permian Basin, Hector was nothing short of phenomenal as he shut down the Falcons. He threw seven complete innings, allowing just three hits while striking out four batters and only walking one in the complete game effort. He carried a no-hitter through five and two thirds of the contest and never allowed more than a single in the contest.
His efforts halted an eight game hitting streak for the Falcons, and now drops his ERA down to an LSC leading 3.28 amongst starters. He has thrown 60.1 innings while allowing just 22 earned runs and striking out 51 batters on the year and has now gone at least six innings in six of his last seven starts.
Hector and the Patriots will now enjoy their LSC bye week before taking on Southern Arkansas on April 23.
