RICHARDSON, TEXAS - UT Tyler junior
Sam Schott garnered Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week honors after powering the Patriots to a series sweep over St. Edward's.
Schott went 7-for-8 between the three games, helping guide UT Tyler to 6-4, 13-0 and 8-0 victories over the Hilltoppers. The Longview, Texas native is the fourth representative from UT Tyler to earn a Player of the Week distinction from the Lone Star Conference, joining
Crimson Bryant,
Cassidi Mullen and
JT Smith who earned Player of the Week nods earlier this season.
From her leadoff spot, Schott drove in five runs and scored five times, batting at an .875 clip and posting a .909 on-base percentage for the series. Schott opened with a 2-for-3 outing in game one and 2-for-2 in game two, then capped her weekend going 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and a stolen base.
Her multi-hit outings in all three games elevated her season average to .371 on the year. Schott leads the team with seven homers and has driven in 37 RBI thus far.
UT Tyler is set for a weekend road trip to Western New Mexico on Saturday and Sunday in Silver City, N.M.
