LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Junior
Jackson Naeger shot a second straight even-par round of 71 to lead UT Tyler to a 297 on day two of the 2024 NCAA Division II South Central/West Regional.
Naeger sits in a tie for 18
th place on the individual leaderboard after two rounds with a 142 total. UT Tyler posted a 297 on Friday at the New Mexico State University Golf Course and will begin tomorrow's third and final round in a tie for 19
th place with a 600 (303-297) two-round total.
The top five teams and the top two individual finishers not on those advancing teams will move on to the NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championship Tournament on May 21-25 at the Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge in Winter Garden, Florida.
Naeger made three birdies and three bogeys on Friday and will begin tomorrow within striking distance of qualifying for the NCAA DII Men's Golf National Championship Tournament as an individual with a quality final round.
Junior
Seth Campbell carded a second-round 73 to rebound after an opening 82. Classmates
Gage Burnham and
Jay Shero rounded out the counting scores for the Patriots with rounds of 76 and 77.
Shero sits in a tie for 72
nd place with a 151 total after rounds of 74-77 and Burnham in a tie for 82
nd place after a pair of 76's. Junior
Carson Wray rounded out the scoring for UT Tyler with an 80 on Friday.
UT Tyler will begin tomorrow's final round with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. local time.
