CANYON, TEXAS – No. 2 seeded UT Tyler fell by an 8-0 final score in the championship game of the 2024 Lone Star Conference Softball Championship Tournament.
The Patriots will await to see if they are selected as one of six available at-large bids into the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament via an online selection show on Monday morning at 9 am. The South Central Regional Tournament will be split into two double-elimination brackets with four teams going to both the no. 1 and no. 2 overall seeds host sites on May 9-11.

Christin Haygood were all named to the 2024 LSC Softball Championship All-Tournament Team for their efforts in the Patriot's three games in the tournament.
West Texas A&M plated three runs across the first three innings of play to provide an early lead and then capped off the win with a four-run bottom half of the fifth inning. UT Tyler didn't manage a baserunner in their first three trips to the plate and then stranded eight runners aboard in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Junior
Sam Schott had the first hit of the game for UT Tyler in the top of the fourth on a leadoff single after West Texas A&M jumped out to the 3-0 lead. Junior
JT Smith reached on a fielding error to add a second runner aboard, but the Patriots were unable to manufacture any further offense from there.
UT Tyler had their two additional hits in the fifth and sixth innings, but stranded the bases loaded in both frames.

Cassidi Mullen put forth the three hits in the game for the Patriots.
