Aerin Thompson, and
Abeni Kratzmeyer were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team for men's and women's track and field as announced on Tuesday.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Track & Field teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field, and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's track& field honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Ashton Turner, a junior Education major from Fort Worth, Texas, earned his second consecutive CSC Academic All-District honor after putting together another phenomenal season on the track as he led the men's program throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons. He was named to the USTFCCCA Indoor and Outdoor All-Region teams in the 60 meter hurdles, 400 meters, 110 meter hurdles, and 400 meter hurdles. He also picked up LSC Second Team Indoor honors and LSC First Team Outdoor honors. He was twice an LSC champion in the 110 meter hurdles and the 400 meter hurdles.
Aerin Thompson rounded out a fantastic season for the women's program and earned her first CSC Academic All-District award. Thompson, a sophomore Human Resource Development major from Cayuga, Texas, blitzed the track in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. She earned USTFCCCA Second Team Indoor All-America honors in the 400 meters, and then earned USTFCCCA First Team Outdoor All-America honors in the 400 meters. She was named to both All-LSC Indoor and Outdoor First Teams, and was a selection for USTFCCCA Outdoor and Indoor All-Region in the 4x400, high jump, pentathlon, heptathlon, and 200 meters.
Abeni Kratzmeyer earned her second consecutive CSC Academic All-District honor after another huge year in the pole vault. A junior Nursing major, Kratzmeyer again cemented her legacy as she earned the LSC title in the indoor pole vault, and tacked on All-LSC First Team indoor and All-LSC Second Team outdoor honors. She was named to the USTFCCCA All-Region teams for both indoor and outdoor pole vault, and was also a USTFCCCA Second Team Indoor All-America selection.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
