TYLER, TEXAS – Garrett Arredondo, Ethan Bedgood, Austin Ochoa, Blake LaBuda, and Nick Niebur of UT Tyler baseball have each earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors for the 2024 season after phenomenal years in both the classroom and on the field.
 
The 2024 Academic All-District® Baseball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
 
Arredondo, a junior from Sugar Land, Texas, put together another strong year on the mound for the Patriots and earned his second straight CSC All-District honor. He posted a 3.04 ERA over 35.1 innings pitched while striking out 24 and allowing just 12 runs.
 
Bedgood, a senior from Sherman, Texas, put himself into Patriots history on several occasions this season, as he now is the program's all-time hits leader, RBI leader, doubles leader, games played and games started leader. Bedgood earned his second straight CSC All-District honor after hitting .383 with 80 hits, 23 extra base hits, and 55 RBI.
 
Ochoa, another senior, this time from Refugio, Texas, put an end to his Patriots career with a second straight strong season. He posted a .305 average with 16 total extra base hits, 40 RBI, and 54 total runs scored.
 
LaBuda, a junior from Broomfield, Colorado, capped off his season with his first CSC All-District honor. He hit .318 for the year with 18 extra base hits, 34 RBI, and 31 runs scored.
 
Niebur, a junior from Rockwall, Texas, also earned his first CSC All-District honor after a strong year from the mound for the program. He posted a 5.59 ERA over 29 innings while allowing 18 earned runs and striking out 28 batters while collecting a team-high three saves.
 
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
