WHAT COACH MASHE IS SAYING
On her team's performance last week at the Dallas Classic... "We have alot of growing things that we need to work through. We saw some good things throughout the weekend. I didn't feel like we had a good showing in our first match against East Central, but we had a good response against Dallas Baptist. We didn't end up getting a win, but at the end of the day we were in position to be there. We have to learn from the mistakes that we're making, we are committing errors and mistakes at critical times and we can't do that moving forward. So we have alot of learning to do. We have to figure out the right combinations of girls to get on the floor that want to play hard for each other and for this program. That will be what we are looking for this weekend. Finding that group that wants to be out there and work hard."
On the benefits of playing three great teams on the first weekend of the season... "We wanted to be challenged, because we're going to be challenged all season long in our conference. The biggest thing we want to see though is how we respond to what the outcome of the weekend was. We are not satisfied as a coaching staff and I don't think the players are satisfied with the results of the weekend either. So it challenged us, it's going to make us better, but we have to respond moving forward."
On the outlook for this weekend's OBU Fall Tournament... "It's going to be another challenging tournament. Oklahoma Baptist always has a solid team, we're going to be on their home floor and I expect a similar atmosphere to what we got last week. All three teams are going to be good again, so we're looking forward to being challenge again, because that's what we are going to get in our conference. We really are going to look to our experience and returners to accept the challenge and lead us in the way that we need to be led. I am excited to see how we respond this weekend."
