Box Score PUEBLO, COLORADO – UT Tyler men's soccer will move to 1-2-1 on the season after a 3-0 defeat to #2 CSU Pueblo on the road on Saturday afternoon.
The first half ended 0-0, but the #2 ranked Thunderwolves put plenty of pressure on the Patriots, only for them to hold steady and keep them out of the net. Goalkeeper
Luke Ryan held steady in the early going, picking up a pair of saves.
Again the Thunderwolves pushed the pace in the next 15 minutes, racking up four shots over a seven minute stretch, but again Ryan held firm, making a save on the single shot on goal in that stretch.
From the 20 minute mark, the Patriots defense stepped up big, allowing just one shot over the remainder of the half. In that stretch as well,
Omar Belahna recorded the first shot for the Patriots offense, but it was saved by the Thunderwolves keeper.
In the second half, the Thunderwolves offense started slow, but they got themselves on the board for the first time thanks to a corner kick in the 57
th minute of play. The Patriots defense stepped up in response, allowing just three total shots over the next 27 minutes of play.
However, the Thunderwolves were able to break through twice more in the final five minutes and change of the contest, scoring a goal in the 85
th minute and the 88
th minute to make the final score 3-0.
The Patriots will now return to the friendly confines of Citizens 1
st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex for Senior Day on September 21
st. That game will begin a three game homestand that will last through October 2
nd.
