Patriots Close Out Unbeaten Weekend With Convincing 3-0 Win Over McKendree

UT Tyler hit .292 as a team and limited McKendree to less than 20 points in a three sets to win 3-0 and complete the weekend undefeated at the OBU Fall Tournament

SHAWNEE, OKLA. – UT Tyler dominated in a 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-18) win over McKendree to finish out the OBU Fall Tournament unbeaten on the weekend.

The Patriots hit .294 as a team, putting down 44 kills in the match on just 109 swings. Junior Kota Hartman reached double-digit kill figures for a fifth straight match while freshman Alyson Robbins hit .409 for the match, each notching a team-high 10 kills.

The 3-0 weekend draws the Patriots record back to .500 on the year at 3-3.

UT Tyler took control of the match midway through the opening set, rattling off a 7-1 run to lead 20-14. The Patriots closed out the opening frame with a 25-18 victory and moved ahead 2-0 in the match with a similar second set output.

A 12-12 second set turned into the Patriot's favor with an 8-1 run to make it 20-13 in what would be a 25-19 victory.

UT Tyler turned in their best offensive work on the day in the closing third set, putting away 17 kills on 38 swings for a team hitting percentage of .294. The Patriots opened an 11-7 lead in that third set and never looked back, winning the set and the match with a 25-18 margin.

Hartman and Robbins helped pace a UT Tyler offense that out-killed McKendree by a 53-to-39 margin the match. Setters Jenna White and Saige Rivera both orchestrated the attack at a high level, notching 19 and 18 assists, respectively.

Libero Addison Evans went for 20 digs to help captain the defensive effort.

Outside hitters Autumn Perry and Jackie Velzis both put together quality afternoons as well, going for eight and seven kills, respectively.

UT Tyler will now head to Kingsville, Texas for a pair of matches against Texas Woman's and Texas A&M-Kingsville for a pair of non-conference matches against Lone Star Conference foes.
