Patriots Suffer First Road Loss of the Season

UT Tyler falls 1–0 on the road at Angelo State despite outshooting the Rambelles and creating multiple second-half chances.

SAN ANGELO, TEXAS – UT Tyler women's soccer dropped its first road loss of the season on Wednesday night, falling 1–0 to Angelo State in a hard-fought Lone Star Conference matchup at LeGrand Soccer Complex. The Patriots entered the contest 8–1–2 overall and 5–1–2 in conference play, and now sit at 8–2–2 following the result.

Both teams traded early spells of possession in a tightly contested first half. The Patriots created several promising moments in the attack, generating multiple corner kicks and shots from distance, but were unable to break through against the Rambelles' back line. Defensively, UT Tyler maintained its strong organization, holding Angelo State to limited opportunities in the opening 45 minutes as the teams went into halftime scoreless.

UT Tyler's attack produced 12 total shots, including five on goal. Larixsa Plascencia and Ella Anderson each recorded multiple shots on goal, while Gabrielle Wiebe and Marin Love also tested the Rambelles' defense throughout the evening. The Patriots' pressure created a series of second-half corner kicks and close-range chances, but the final touch eluded them in the attacking third.

The decisive moment came midway through the second half, when Angelo State capitalized on a chance inside the box to take the 1–0 lead. UT Tyler responded with increased pressure over the final 20 minutes, pushing numbers forward and forcing the Rambelles into several defensive stands. Despite outshooting Angelo State 12–10 and earning 10 corner kicks to their 4, the Patriots couldn't find the equalizer before the final whistle.

Robbi Curry made two saves in the first half before being replaced at halftime; Emily Clark came on in goal for the second half and added three saves in relief. The loss marks the Patriots' first setback on the road this season.

UT Tyler will look to bounce back at home on Saturday, hosting Sul Ross State in another Lone Star Conference matchup.
