PATRIOTS NEWS AND NOTES
- UT Tyler went 18-9 overall in 2024 with a 14-2 record in the LSC. They qualified for their 4th straight NCAA South Central Regional Tournament and finished 3rd in the LSC Standings.
- The Patriots are led by head coach Lyndsay Mashe who is in her 10th season with the program and 20th year as a head coach. She is 172-78 (.688) with the Patriots and 366-200 (.647) overall.
- Coach Mashe is joined by her husband and Associate Head Coach Kris Mashe, who has been at her side throughout all 20 years of her tenure.
- UT Tyler will return their three highest offensive players in terms of kills from 2024 as Kota Hartman, Autumn Perry, and Jackie Velzis come back. Hartman, the reigning LSC Newcomer of the Year, had 399 kills and hit .216 to average 3.87 kills per set.
- Saige Rivera, the Preseason LSC Setter of the Year, will look to build on a season that saw her total 995 assists for an average of 9.85 per set. She also had a strong year at the service line, picking up 24 aces to post the third most on the team.
- Of the 10 players that played at least 70 sets last season, seven will make their return in one of the strongest returning classes in recent seasons.
- As a team the Patriots are 9-7 in 2025 and are 5-1 in LSC play. They are hitting .208 and holding opponents to .184 while posting 12.3 assists per set, 13.2 kills per set, and 16.9 digs per set.
- Autumn Perry leads the Patriots with 171 kills and Audrey Brandon has a .374 attack percentage to lead the team with those over 20 kills. Saige Rivera has 446 assists thus far, and Anna Arceneaux has 205 total digs.
- Perry and Kota Hartman each rank inside the top 15 in total kills in the LSC, while Rivera has the fifth most assists, and both Emma Vazquez and Kaitlyn Davis rank inside the top 15 in aces. Arceneaux is ninth in total digs.
THE LADY CHAPS
Lubbock Christian heads into the weekend 15-4 on the year and on an 11 match win streak as they stand 7-0 in LSC play and currently lead the conference.
As a team they are hitting .221 and holding opponents to a .149 average while posting 13.7 kills per set, 13 assists per set, and 18.2 digs per set. Individually they are led by the duo of Lily Bickley and Emilee Sikora who have combined for 392 kills on the year and are each hitting over .200. Camdyn Sears is doing the setting duties with 681 assists on the year, and Bickley and Schweer have posted over 50 blocks.
UT Tyler leads the all-time record at 6-0 over Lubbock Christian in the series that dates back to 2019. The Patriots took a 3-2 and 3-1 win on the road over the last two years.
THE MUSTANGS
Midwestern State stands at 12-4 overall and 5-2 in LSC play and are winners of their last three matches over Southwestern Oklahoma State, Cameron, and Oklahoma Christian.
As a team they are hitting .231 while holding opponents to a .164 average and are posting 13.6 kills per set, 12.9 assists per set, and 19.4 digs per set. Three different players have over 150 kills, led by Trinity Vinzant with 195. Alayna Guerrero has 652 assists to lead the setters, and both Jaiden Wright and Isabella Dickens have posted over 30 blocks.
THE LSC UPDATE
Lubbock Christian leads the conference standings as the only undefeated team remaining at 7-0., Just behind is Angelo State at 6-1. Sitting just a half game back is both West Texas A&M and UT Tyler, and a half game back of those two teams is Texas A&M-Kingsville and Midwestern State.
LAST TIME OUT
Last week the Patriots went 1-1, suffering their first LSC loss on Saturday to (RV) Angelo State by a score of 3-0. They took down UT Permian Basin 3-0 on Friday night, marking their fourth sweep in LSC play this season.
