PATRIOTS NEWS AND NOTES
- UT Tyler went 18-9 overall in 2024 with a 14-2 record in the LSC. They qualified for their 4th straight NCAA South Central Regional Tournament and finished 3rd in the LSC Standings.
- The Patriots are led by head coach Lyndsay Mashe who is in her 10th season with the program and 20th year as a head coach. She is 173-79 (.687) with the Patriots and 367-201 (.646) overall.
- Coach Mashe is joined by her husband and Associate Head Coach Kris Mashe, who has been at her side throughout all 20 years of her tenure.
- UT Tyler will return their three highest offensive players in terms of kills from 2024 as Kota Hartman, Autumn Perry, and Jackie Velzis come back. Hartman, the reigning LSC Newcomer of the Year, had 399 kills and hit .216 to average 3.87 kills per set.
- Saige Rivera, the Preseason LSC Setter of the Year, will look to build on a season that saw her total 995 assists for an average of 9.85 per set. She also had a strong year at the service line, picking up 24 aces to post the third most on the team.
- Of the 10 players that played at least 70 sets last season, seven will make their return in one of the strongest returning classes in recent seasons.
- As a team the Patriots are 10-8 in 2025 and are 6-2 in LSC play. They are hitting .202 and holding opponents to .184 while posting 12.7 assists per set, 13.5 kills per set, and 17.6 digs per set.
- Autumn Perry leads the Patriots with 208 kills and Audrey Brandon has a .318 attack percentage to lead the team with those over 20 kills. Saige Rivera has 514 assists thus far, and Anna Arceneaux has 265 total digs.
- Perry ranks fifth overall in the LSC in kills per set at 3.41 and is 10th in points per set at 3.74. Saige Rivera ranks fifth in the LSC in assists per set at 8.16 and is third in total assists. Freshman Anna Arceneaux is sixth in digs per set at 4.65.
THE LADY BUFFS
#13 West Texas A&M is 15-4 overall and 7-1 overall while riding a seven match win streak after dropping their opening contest of the LSC slate to Texas A&M-Kingsville. They are currently in a tie for second in the LSC standings.
The Lady Buffs are hitting .258 on the year and posting 11.8 assists per set and 15.0 digs per set. Individually, the offense is led by Currie Marusak and Emma Becker, who each have over 200 kills to lead the team. Bromli Watson has dished out 577 assists, Hannah Pemberton has 196 digs, and Taytum Stow has 108 total blocks.
West Texas A&M holds the all-time series lead at 11-3 overall and are riding a nine match winning streak dating back to September 17, 2022. The last Patriots win came on September 10, 2022 at the LSC Crossover event.
THE GREYHOUNDS
Eastern New Mexico is 4-15 overall and 1-7 in LSC play. Their lone LSC win is over Texas A&M International back on September 26
th. They have dropped their two most recent matches and last won on October 13
th against New Mexico Highlands.
The Greyhounds are hitting .124 overall on the year while posting 10 assists per set and 15.1 digs per set. The offense is led by Sophia Valdez with 233 kills on a .205 percentage, and Violeta Flores has posted 295 assists. On defense, Imahni Brown has 294 digs and Amya Speller has 48 total blocks.
UT Tyler leads the all-time series at 5-0 that dates back to 2019. That 2019 matchup is the only one to not feature a 3-0 sweep for the Patriots. They are also 2-0 on the road in Portales, New Mexico in the series.
THE LSC UPDATE
Lubbock Christian remains the top team in the LSC standings, now standing at 9-0. Both West Texas A&M and Angelo State are 7-1, and UT Tyler is the lone team at 6-2. Midwestern State, DBU, Texas Woman's, and Texas A&M-Kingsville currently make up the top eight that would make the LSC Tournament.
LAST TIME OUT
Last week the Patriots hosted Lubbock Christian and Midwestern State, splitting the weekend at 1-1. The Lady Chaps took a 3-0 sweep over the Patriots on Friday, but UT Tyler responded with a dramatic 3-2 win over the Mustangs that featured a reverse sweep.
Autumn Perry in that match totaled 24 kills, the fifth most in a single match in program history.
Anna Arceneaux added 37 digs as five different players hit double figures.
