TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler baseball continues to climb the national rankings, making gains in the ABCA, NCBWA, and D2 Baseball polls after sweeping their home series against Cameron. The Patriots now hold a 25-8 record on the season.
In this week's D2 Baseball poll, UT Tyler moved up to No. 7, improving from their previous No. 9 ranking. The Lone Star Conference remains well represented, with No. 4 Angelo State, No. 25 West Texas A&M, and St. Edward's receiving votes.
The ABCA Coaches Poll places the Patriots at No. 8, an improvement from last week's No. 10 ranking. This marks the sixth regular-season ABCA poll, which also includes other LSC teams: No. 5 Angelo State, No. 19 West Texas A&M, No. 26 St. Edward's, and Lubbock Christian receiving votes.
UT Tyler jumped up to No. 3 in the NCBWA Top 25 rankings where they were previously No. 7, with Angelo State following at No. 9, West Texas A&M at 25, and St. Edward's receiving votes.
The Patriots have showcased an explosive offense early in the season, ranking seventh in Division II in hits with 355. They also sit 14th in doubles and walks, while ranking 10th in runs scored.
The pitching staff and defense have been equally dominant, boasting a 3.67 ERA—ninth-best in Division II—while leading the nation in double plays turned with 31.
UT Tyler will travel to Odessa, Texas, for a four-game series against UT Permian Basin, beginning Friday at 2 p.m.
