LAREDO, TEXAS - #4 UT Tyler softball earned wins of 13-1 and 7-2 on Friday over Texas A&M International as they capped off a road trip sweep on their final road trip of the 2025 regular season.
GAME ONE: #4 UT Tyler: 13, Texas A&M International: 1
UT Tyler put together a big run rule effort in game one with a dominant run in the middle innings on their way to a 13-1 win.
The Dustdevils would strike first in the contest, leading off with a solo homer to make it 1-0. Starter
Kaylee Davis would buckle down, only allowing two more hits and two walks for the rest of the contest. She would stack on four strikeouts, including a pair in the third inning as she effectively shut out the Dustdevils on her way to earning her 12
th win of the year.
The Patriots offense would battle back in the second, as
Miia Campos drove in the tying run with an RBI double. In the third, the offense erupted for five runs on just one hit as they maintained a patient approach. The Patriots drew four straight walks, the last of which was an RBI from
Taryn Barney. A wild pitch scored
Ka'Lyn Watson, a sacrifice fly from
Bailey Krolczyk drove home another, and Campos added her second RBI double of the day to make it 6-1.
In the fourth, the Patriots kept it going, as
Jordyn De Los Santos added an RBI single and Barney touched them all as she hit a three run blast to make it 10-1. They would add three more runs in the fifth, this time from the bat of Watson as she cleared the bases on a triple to make it 13-1, the eventual final score.
Taryn Barney drove home four runs as she went 1-for-1 with two runs and four RBI.
Miia Campos went 3-for-3 with a run and two RBI.
GAME TWO: #4 UT Tyler: 7, Texas A&M International: 2
In game two, the Patriots used a big sixth inning to break open the contest and roll to a sweep.
The two teams would trade a scoreless first frame before the Patriots took the lead in the second. A walk from Campos and a double from
Bailey Krolczyk put a pair on, and
Alaunah Almaraz came up big with a double as the Patriots took a 2-0 lead.
The Dustdevils would fire back with an RBI single in the home half, cutting the lead back to one. The Dustdevils would again add a run in the home half of the fourth, this time on an RBI groundout as they squared up the game.
The Patriots didn't score in the third, fourth, or fifth, but put together a big rally in the sixth as they busted the game open in their favor. Barney would lead off with a single, and two batters later Krolczyk hammered a homer to left center to make it 4-2. Later in the frame,
JT Smith would drive home another on an RBI single, and she would come around to score on an RBI by
Sam Schott to make it 6-2.
The Patriots would add one final run in the seventh, a solo homer from Krolczyk to make it 7-2 and the combination of
Cera Blanchard and
Primrose Aholelei worked a scoreless inning to close out the contest and ensure the sweep.
Blanchard earned the win, tossing 6.1 innings while allowing 12 hits and three walks while also striking out four batters. Aholelei would face the final two batters, striking out one and getting the other on a flyout.
Bailey Krolczyk went 4-for-4 with two homers, a double, three RBI, and three runs.
JT Smith would add a 2-for-4 day with a run and an RBI, and four other Patriots recorded one hit.
The Patriots will now return home for the final week of the regular season as they will play six games in three doubleheaders. That week begins on Tuesday afternoon as they host Texas Woman's at Irwin Field.
